What We Guarantee
1. Freedom from Infectious Diseases
- Your kitten is guaranteed to be free of Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) at the time of purchase.
- The kitten will also be free of intestinal parasites and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. A detailed health record will be provided upon purchase.
2. Veterinary Examination Period
- You will have 3 business days from the date of receiving your kitten to have it examined by a licensed veterinarian. We highly recommend scheduling this appointment in advance.
- A dated copy of the veterinarian’s health assessment must be sent to Bens Oriental Shorthair Cats within 10 days of receiving your kitten. Failure to comply will void the health guarantee.
3. Serious Illness or Deformity
- If a licensed veterinarian determines that your kitten has a serious illness or deformity within the 10-day period, a written statement on the veterinarian’s official letterhead must be submitted to us.
- Upon verification, we will offer a replacement kitten of similar quality. Shipping costs for the replacement kitten are the responsibility of the buyer.
4. 3-Year Genetic Health Guarantee
- If your kitten passes away within 3 years of purchase due to a hereditary or congenital defect, we will replace the kitten with one of equal value.
- To qualify, Bens Oriental Shorthair Cats must receive proof of the defect in the form of a complete necropsy report completed by a licensed veterinarian. Costs associated with the necropsy are the buyer’s responsibility.
- After reviewing the findings, if the death was due to a covered condition, a replacement kitten will be offered as soon as possible. A maximum of 4 replacement kittens will be provided. If the buyer declines all 4 offers, they forfeit their right to another kitten.
Exclusions
- This guarantee does not cover minor illnesses such as Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs), which can occur due to the stress of relocation. While we ensure kittens are healthy at the time of shipping, URIs are not considered a breach of this guarantee.
- Bens Oriental Shorthair Cats does not warranty against Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP results from a mutation of feline enteric coronavirus (FECV), and its development cannot be predicted or prevented. Vaccinating your kitten against FIP will void this guarantee due to potential false-positive test results.
Buyer Responsibilities
- Veterinary Care: Once the kitten leaves our care, you assume full responsibility for all veterinary expenses, including exams, vaccinations, medications, and lab tests. No medical costs will be reimbursed by Bens Oriental Shorthair Cats.
- Proper Care: Buyers must provide a safe, clean, and loving home for the kitten. Neglect, abuse, or failure to follow proper care guidelines will void this guarantee.
Shipping & Initial Health Check
- All shipped kittens are vet-checked before departure and receive a veterinary health certificate, confirming they are in good condition at the time of travel.
- For the safety of other pets, we recommend isolating your new kitten until cleared by your veterinarian.
Limitations of Liability
- No Cash Refunds: Under no circumstances will cash refunds be issued. The sole remedy is the replacement of the kitten with one of similar quality.
- Voiding the Guarantee: Failure to comply with the terms of this guarantee (including missing the vet exam deadline or evidence of mistreatment) releases Bens Oriental Shorthair Cats from all liability.
